THOM ELKJER

Wine author and educator Thom Elkjer has written about wine in books, magazines and newspapers, and appears at wine events as an M.C., speaker and moderator. As Wine Editor and a feature contributor for Wine Country Living, he wrote a series of appellation analyses covering California, Oregon and Washington as well as a regular column, “By The Glass,” on wine trends and tasting. His freelance journalism has appeared in more than a dozen national magazines, including Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast, and also in the weekly wine section of the San Francisco Chronicle. One of his areas of special concern is green viticulture, which he has covered in numerous articles for the American and European press. He also co-founded BD Forum, a national conference on biodynamic wines and viticulture, in 2006.

Elkjer’s frequent travels have taken him to more than a dozen other wine-producing nations in the northern and southern hemispheres. He has also made wine from Napa Valley, Russian River Valley and Dry Creek Valley.

Elkjer’s books include "True to Our Roots" (Bloomberg Media), "Adventures in Wine" (Travelers Tales), and "Escape to the Wine Country" (Fodor’s). He has also published numerous travel essays, book reviews and an award-winning novel, Hook Line and Murder, set in on the Sonoma Coast.
